LT GEN TAHIR MAHMUD QAZI, HI (M), (RETD.)
(Former High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia)

ADVISOR TO CHAIRMAN

His Excellency was commissioned from Pakistan Military Academy in June 1970, in the ‘Regiment of Artillery’. Participated in Indo-Pak War of 1971. Served in Pakistan Army for 38 years with distinction.

He was awarded ‘Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military)’, in 2003, for meritorious services. Held various Command, Staff and Instructional appointments at all levels to include Chief of Staff Air Defence Command, Director Military Intelligence, Director General Personnel Services at GHQ and Commander Army Air Defence Command.

Did Air Defence Gunnery Staff Course with distinction (1st Position). A graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta, and National Defence University Islamabad. Holds the degree of BA from Baluchistan University, M.Sc (Defence and Strategic Studies) from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and Certificate from IBA in Operational Research Methodology.

On retirement in October 2006, His Excellent was appointed as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia. Served in the capacity till Feb 2010. Has the honour of concluding and signing ‘Free Trade Agreement’ between Pakistan and Malaysia (the first between two Muslim countries), got Pakistan declared as a source country for import of Halal Meat by Malaysia, and represented Pakistan at various international forums, including ‘World Islamic Economic Forum’ and ‘Conference of Head of Government, D-8 Countries’. Was on the ‘Board of Governors’ and ‘Senate’ of International Islamic University Malaysia.

Upon his return from Malaysia, the General is very active in Social, Literary and Corporate Circles. He is an avid book reader and has passion for music and social service.
